Awesome Halloween Party!
Hey guys,
Daren and I really enjoyed being able to share such a beautiful day with all of our students and their families and it means so much to us that most of the kids program was able to make it out to yesterday and have a great time. Have a great Halloween everyone!
Paleo Halloween Party
Hey guys,
I am rounding up volunteers and this years Halloween Party might be the best ever. In addition to this we have our very own Halloween Expert that is coordinating all of the activities. So just to remind every one, this Event will be a Potluck and we know that it is Halloween and that means candy and sweets, but Daren and I would also like to everyone to bring at least one healthy dish so as to accomodate those people who are on diets or that have strict dietary needs. Originially, we wanted to do a Paleo only Halloween Party, but a big part of Halloween is that kids get to enjoy themselves and have funs and we know that things like vegetables and meat are not always so poplular with the picky appetities of children.

Paleo: The ancestral solution to modern dietary problems
As parents you are constantly assessing your child health and well being always striving to provide them with the best. The best education, the best experiences but are your helping them learn the best eating habits? We recognize the real world concerns of the tight schedules, social circumstances and ingrained bad habits but these powerful influences can sabotage your childs understanding of a healthy diet. If you were to ask any child today to list some healthy foods I am confident that they could spout off the USDA’s food pyramid without hesitation but does this only demonstrate the irony in the daily life. The forces of a hectic daily life will always divert you from a optimal health and that it is why it is so important that you instill the power in your child to overcome these pressures and make the right food choices.
Your childs palate developes over time just like motor skills and cognitive abilties. The norrow eating habits they are displaying now have a 99% chance of subsiding, the key is patience. There is no fool-proof method but a picky eater will never venture out of the norm unless you are adventurous and bring them out side of their narrow eating habits. Food neophobia is an evolutionary adaptation to protect individuals from consuming potentially harmful foods. This inhert reaction to new food can not deter you from offering healthy options. As the parent if you demonstrate openmindeness in your famlies diet the end result is that you will ensure a broader palate for your child throughout adult hood and life.
The palate of your child will naturally be drawn to the same negative impact food groups that we as adults battle. The question you must ask your self when faced with a food choice is will it make me and my family healthier? With the goal of making good food choice it is imperitive that we make the transition from processed food with empty calories to nutrient dense foods that make us healthier. The food to eliminate are sugars and grains. Both of these food groups cause excessive insulin production and have an inferior nutritional value compared to natural carbohydrates. This results in fat storage and a host of other lifestyle dieses such as type 2 diabetes. To improve your familes health we emphaize quality protein sources, nuts and seeds, and colorful natural carbohydrates. If your family eats from these plentifuly food options we guartee that you will have better control of your weight, miniize the risk of dieses and improve your general health. No one is perfect and one should ever refuse the lifestyle change in fear of failing but the fact is that any poor choice is at the expense of your health and you should strive for 100% compliance.
Paleo Lecture
Today Mr. Daren gave a lecture at Gentry’s Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) & Fitness gym in Lawrenceville on the Paleo Diet for Competitors and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighters. The lecture served as an introduction to the Paleo or the Paleolithic Diet in which many Crossfit and professional athletes use to maintain a healthy life style and competitive edge over their competition. In attendance were 11 people all eager to learn better healthy eating tips as well as to try some of Daren’s own Paleo cooking. Look for more info on how to Make your child Eat Healthier! coming out soon from the Alliance Kids Atlanta Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) workshop.

National stop Bullying Month
Did you know that October is the national Stop Bullying month. Here at Alliance Kids Atlanta Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) we are firm believers in non-violent bully prevention through our techniques patented and designed for all of our kids Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes.
or Call 1-404-855-0865
Here at Alliance Kids Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) Atlanta, we combine our experience dealing with teaching Self Defense and Self Preseverance techniques with the Research and Analysis of academic sources to help parents of victims of bullying and bully-victims to overcome the issues of physical and psychological abuse that they go through everyday. With the new research being done today, it is now possible to have a better understanding of bullying than what was previously thought. In the past there were thought to be only two categories, one bully and one victim, but with the new research techniques and the more attention drawn to bullying, we see that there is a third class called the bully-victim that was previously ignored. This bully-victim are students or children that are both bullies and recipients of bullying.
Here are a few Facts from the American Psycological Association
- Bullying occurs most frequently from sixth to eighth grade, with little variation between urban, suburban, town and rural areas.
- Males are more likely to be bullies and victims of bullying than females. Males are more likely to be physically bullied, while females are more likely to be verbally or psychologically bullied.
- Bullies and victims of bullying have difficulty adjusting to their environments, both socially and psychologically. Victims of bullying have greater difficulty making friends and are lonelier.
- Bullies are more likely to smoke and drink alcohol, and to be poorer students.
- Bully-victims–students who are both bullies and recipients of bullying–tend to experience social isolation, to do poorly in school and to engage in problem behaviors such as smoking and drinking.

Naga tournament this weekend
Hey guys,
I just want to give a shout out to Bashiri and Fard, who will be representing Alliance Kids Atlanta at the North American Grappling Association (NAGA) tournament which is also the Southern National Championship. Unfortunately, Daren and I will be unable to coach you guys this time but we will be there in spirit. Just remember that you are both highly trained, have great techniques, takedown and takedown defenses. When you go out there make sure to give it your all, and no matter what, you are both excellent Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) practitioners and you will always be winners for stepping on to the mat.
~Good Luck!
Alec and Daren
